Here's the pretty! WILD IN THE COUNTRY

The print edition of my super steamy, super length novel WILD IN THE COUNTRY is here!

Very pleased with the result as I designed the cover myself. The gorgeous stock image makes it, of course. Perfectly captures Flora in dreamy soft focus.

Portia in Print!

I've been foofing about with Createspace, and making print copies of some of my self published work. Some time ago, I published a print copy of Lessons and Lovers, with a beautiful cover by Croco Designs, but in the last week or so, I've gotten experimental and started making my own print covers and interior files, using Photoshop and Vellum. A fantastic YouTube video from Elizabeth Ann West really helped me gain the confidence to try making covers.

Of course, the crunch will come when the proof copies arrive, in a week or so's time, but here are the covers I've come up with so far, for WILD IN THE COUNTRY, and my little kink anthology DELICIOUS PAIN.

I will post again here with pix of the actual books when they arrive, and also when the go live and are available to buy!

WILD IN THE COUNTRY is out now!

Well, after a long, long wait and years of being unavailable, WILD IN THE COUNTRY is finally published again!

This is my saucy country romp novel, and it’s a bumper one, over 300 pages. It’s been slightly edited, to highlight a growing romantic relationship, in and amongst the general sex high jinks, and deliver a more clearly defined ‘happily ever after’.

Here’s the blurb:

Welcome to the naughtiest little village in England!

Flora Swain is a newcomer to the village of Marwick Magna, renowned for the inspiration it provides to painters, authors and other artistic types. Impetuous and strong-minded, Flora is no artist – yet. But there are creative urges within her, she is convinced, and she's come to the country to give them life and expression.

The strange thing is that most of Flora’s urges turn out to be almost entirely sensual. Is it the mystique and undoubted physical allure of her new neighbour, Declan McKenna, that’s driving her wild? Or the explicit messages which appear daily in her post? Or could it be that country life has revealed to her a daringly sensuous new self?

Could Wild Flower be the real Flora Swain?

It’s available from the outlets listed below, and I hope to have a print edition out in the not too distant future.

Working on Wild - cover preview

I'm currently working towards self publishing this older title of mine, WILD IN THE COUNTRY. And this cover perfectly expresses my vision of Flora, the heroine. When we were discussing ideas for covers for Wild, my buddy Saskia Walker mentioned the dreamy sensuality of the old Cadbury's Flake television adverts, and that really inspired me! With that in mind, I was lucky enough to find this image fairly quickly on a stock site.

Although WILD IN THE COUNTRY has been published before and edited twice, I knew it needed a bit more work. Mainly to pick up odd little punctuation blips and things that slip in during file conversion and what have you. But as I worked on it, I knew I had to make some slight changes to the story. This book was originally written as a kind of crazy sex romp, with Flora as a free spirited girl, kicking over the traces of an old, more boring life, when she moved to live in a village full of rampant sensualists who enjoyed partner swapping and a host of wild erotic games. That's still the main... er... thrust... of the story, but thinking about Flora, and Declan, the central male character in the story, I wanted to give them a real romantic relationship. One that starts as part of the sexual experimentation they both enjoy in the village community, but growing and developing into something deeper, more forever... and in the end, exclusive.

But that has to develop properly, and Flora can't go straight from wild experimentation, with Declan just one amongst a whole bunch of equally important lovers, to snap, he's The One. So I have to build in some more gradual realisation of their growing affection, maybe even an evolution that neither she nor he are consciously aware of while it's building.

And of course, that takes much longer to do, and a lot more brain thrashing than just a simple check for misplaced punctuation and whatnot. I was hoping to get the new version of Wild out before Christmas, but if I'm honest with myself, I don't think that'll happen now.

Will many people read this new version when I've written it? Who knows... But I'll have had the pleasure and challenge of revamping and revising it. A bit of proper mind work, to keep the old little grey cells from atrophying!

And if anyone fancies a flavour of Flora *before* the revamp, you'll find her as Katy, in IN THE AIR TONIGHT. Many of the usual Wild suspects are there too, but under different names...

Who is Delaney Silver?

This is my latest release under my alter ego pen name, Delaney Silver. My Delaney books are a bit edgier, a bit racier and more explicit than my more recent Portia Da Costa books. They're self published titles, short stories, mostly, that were originally published at a time when I wrote erotica that was meant to be read by men *and* women... or even couples together!

Delaney stories are mostly kink-based, with the emphasis on themes of BDSM, femdom, and f/f etc. There isn't a massive difference between these stories and some of my earlier Black Lace novels. Those early Black Lace books were very often about a woman's journey of sexual exploration rather than a one-on-one relationship between a hero and heroine. They were far less erotic romance and much more erotica, although some contained love relationships and either implied or explicit 'happily ever afters'.

IN THE AIR TONIGHT is very much in the women's sexual exploration vein, featuring a heroine who's wild and free-thinking, and who enjoys relationships with several different lovers who live in her local village. It's actually a spin-off from a Portia title that I'll also be republishing soon, WILD IN THE COUNTRY. The revision work I'm doing on Wild means that the central couple choose a committed, exclusive relationship towards the end of the book, whereas Katy, the heroine of IN THE AIR TONIGHT, is a  hold-over from the previous incarnation of that story, and hasn't settled down with one man alone.

So you could say the characters in In The Air Tonight are alternate universe versions of the people in Wild in the Country.

Does that make sense? LOL

Anyway, here's the blurb:

When Katy attends her first formal evening event since her arrival in Briarwood Magna, she’s hoping for much more than just champagne, canapés and routine social chitchat. Her village friends are all adventurous hedonists, who love to party hard and explore all manner of steamy scenarios, and she wants to get in on the action.

Consequently, she’s thrilled when her handsome friend Mitchell touches and teases her behind the concealing ornamental hedge, and then again, inside the manor house, when she succumbs to the Lord and Lady who are fond of dark games of transgressive pleasure amongst the priceless antiques.

Most of all, though, Katy wants to thank her girl crush Sybilla for the aphrodisiac perfume the beautiful herbalist concocted for her… but she gets a big surprise when she discovers just what the scent is that’s been attracting droves of randy admiring guests to her side throughout the party.
Look out for news of WILD IN THE COUNTRY coming soon. Read a taster.

A great review for WILD IN THE COUNTRY!

I've just been given a lovely review of WILD IN THE COUNTRY, by Cheryl at Cheryl's Book Nook. Here's a clip of what she says...

"... when you start a Portia Da Costa book you better clear some time as you will find yourself getting not wanting to put the book down till the last page. Wild in the Country had me loving every moment of it"

And here's the full review!

Many thanks to Cheryl, and to all the other wonderful readers and reviewers out there who've read my books and invested their time in posting reviews. I'm going to do better about thanking you here in this blog in future... you're the best!

And even those who've reviewed but didn't like my books. I still appreciate you taking the time to read my work, and I respect your opinions. I always like to think that my next book might hit the spot better for you. :)

More news about two of my new print releases!

Here's the lovely cover of the print version of my naughty, crazy sex romp novel WILD IN THE COUNTRY! I always adored the ebook cover and I think it translates beautifully into a wrap around version for a print edition. The colours are simply gorgeous and the couple look both sexy and loving, which is perfect.

The latest publication news is that the *official* realease date is 15th May! Although the book's already listed at online booksellers, it's not yet actually shipping, but come the 15th you should be able to order it and have it delivered straight away. One of the best things about this release is that in the US, the book will be shipping *from* the US, so there won't be any exorbitant postage charges. Same with the UK.

You'll find it at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk and as I mentioned before, there's a hot excerpt to be found here... enjoy!

And lest I forget, BOUND BRITS comes out in print on the same day, with another cover that looks just as striking and effective in a printed version. This contains my BDSM erotic romance novella THE RETREAT as well as fantastic novellas by five other wonderful authors.

It'll be available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk and there's an excerpt here to whet your appetite.

My Mayday Triple Header!!!!

Somehow, me being me, I managed to forget or miss the fact that yesterday was publication day for THREE new titles of mine!!!

MAGIC AND DESIRE is a new Black Lace paranormal erotic romance title that contains my novella Ill Met By Moonlight. It's the story of a girl who meets a gorgeously big and butch fairy while staying at a seaside holiday cabin. You can read an excerpt here.

It's available from Amazon.co.uk and to pre-order from Amazon.com

BOUND BRITS is a British themed BDSM anthology, published by Total-E-Bound. It was published a short while ago as an ebook, but is now out in print from Amazon.co.uk. My contribution is a story of pervy passion and emotional discovery called The Retreat.

WILD IN THE COUNTRY is a previously published novel of mine which has been revamped and republished, also by Total-E-Bound. The ebook came out some time ago, but it's now available in a print edition. It's a wild, crazy and very pervy bucolic frolic, full of lots of kinky sex and colourful characters. You can read an excerpt here and order a copy from Amazon.co.uk.

Some excellent news!

I got home from my jaunt out on Friday to some really exciting news!

WILD IN THE COUNTRY my recent release from hot British epublisher Total-E-Bound is soon to go into print!!!

Wild in the Country was originally published in print in a slightly different version several years ago, but the publisher at the time never did any marketing or promotion for the line, so it pretty much disappeared without a trace on that first publication. Which was a shame, because even though it's not a giant classic of erotic literature, it's a really fun book with lots of rampant bonking and all round kinkery. A light hearted read to cheer you up and make you laugh at its absurdity as much as it turns you on.

Consequently, I'm really glad it's coming back into print again, especially as I know that there are lots of PDC readers out there who tend to prefer an actual book in their hands rather than reading an ebook.

I don't have any details about release date, or price, or where you can buy it yet, but rest assured, as soon as I know, so will you! So watch this space! :)

And a ps. to my fellow Vincent D'Onofrio fans....

Although Wild in the Country was written long before I turned on to our darling Vincenzo, I discovered when I was editing it again that I kept seeing the hero, Drew, as our guy. He's a tall, dark, strapping, gorgeously handsome artist with a wickedly naughty sexual imagination... nuff said! ;)

Two Wild New Reviews!

I've just received news of the first two reviews for WILD IN THE COUNTRY!

The first is from the splendid Mrs Giggles... who awards it 78/100 and describes it as "a pretty amusing - if silly - sex romp"... which sums it up just about perfectly. It's a fairly daft book designed purely for light hearted entertainment, and I think it succeeds in its purpose pretty well.

Go here to read the rest of the Mrs Giggles review

At Night Owl Romance Book Reviews, 'Wild' gets a solid 5/5... which is brilliant! Dee describes it as "sexy, lusty, juicy, and splendid with color" and you can't ask for a nicer plaudit than that!

Go here to read the rest of the Night Owl Romance review

And here's the info about the book...

frivolity v. stress

Wahey, my Kevin and Perry CD arrived this morning! So I'm currently enjoying some bangin' Ibiza classics and dialogue snippets from the film. Yeah, I know it's a silly movie in a lot of ways, but I like it... sometimes, it's just nice to escape into total daftness and not to have to worry about any kind of intellectual significance and all that stuff. K&P is sort of like good old British Carry On but with a much better soundtrack... and beneath all the crudity and rudeness, I do think there's a surprisingly warm heart.

Anyway, it's serving its purpose in taking my mind off something I've been mulling over for a day or two, and which prompted my chainsaw post, further down. I've wrestled with this issue before, and it doesn't seem to go away... one of these days it'll come to a head, and I'll have to act, but for the moment, I'm wimping out and procrastinating... The sad thing is though, with my head screwed by this shit, it's hard to write and yet another day is speeding past without anything done towards Sweat70, which pains me because I started so well, and felt it was really, really benefitting me. But I will get back to it... I promise, Mr Blue and Sven, I will get back on track... Nil bastardi carborundum and all that...

On the plus side, while I'm not actually creating new fiction in the form of GOTHIC HEAT, I'm free to concentrate on checking the proofs of an older work which is about to see a new lease of life... ie. the second of my forthcoming Total-E-Bound ebook releases, WILD IN THE COUNTRY.

Oh my, this book is mad! But in a good way... I'd say it's sort of an erotic romance, because there's a central relationship, and a love story that develops and suggests HEA, but alongside that, it's really one of the craziest, most pervy and bonkathonical shagoramas I've ever written. Sort of like a giant loving menage story involving half the inhabitants of an English country village. LOL

Issa hoot!!!

Don't forget Portia's Promos - new stuff being added all the time!

Tuesday, 26 June 2007

Good stuff!!!

Well, I hope everybody's dashed over to Phaze to buy my lovely mini novella ebook EYES OF DESIRE! It's cheap as chips... why not indulge yourself?

Have passed a bit of a milestone with GOTHIC HEAT today... my word counter indicates I've passed the 50% mark! Now this is only 50% if my total is 70K... but I have a feeling that I may go over that total, and nudge up towards the 75% upper limit. But at least, hopefully, I can feel that I'm coasting down the other side of the slope now...

In other news, I may have sold another title to Total-E-Bound! It's a book I sold many, many years ago, and which I loved... but which never really got the exposure and distribution it deserved. This was way back in the days before I was on the internet, and when I knew even less about promo and whatnot than I did now... so probably only about three people bought this book!

Anyway, the title is WILD IN THE COUNTRY... and as it's name suggests, it's a naughty bucolic frolic, with lots of sexy perviness in a lush, rural setting. Here, unsurprisingly, is the faux cover...

PS.
Forgot to mention this... I've just received a super review of GOTHIC BLUE by the fabulous and obviously very wise and discerning Lucy Felthouse! So delighted that you enjoyed it, Lucy old mate!
