UK re-release of HOTBED... and THE TUTOR!

My Black Lace novel HOTBED is released today in the UK in a new print version! HOTBED is a very naughty book, rather kinky, and not a romance. It's what I'd call a 'woman's journey of sexual discovery' title, so probably not for readers who prefer a clear romantic structure, although the heroine Natalie does end up in relationship at the end! :)

Pride comes before a fall... but what if the descent becomes the wildest ride of your life? Two sisters - Natalie and Patti - become rivals when they challenge each other's daring on a dark, downward spiral where nobody is quite who or what they seem, and where transgressing sexual boundaries is the norm.

Another of my older titles, THE TUTOR, was also reissued in the UK recently. Like many of my earlier books, this one isn't an out and out erotic romance either, but probably has more romantic elements than HOTBED. The heroine Rosalind does experiment a little bit... but she ends up in a happy relationship with David, a gorgeous younger man, at the end!

When Rosalind Howard becomes Julian Hadey's private librarian she soon finds herself attracted by his persuasive charms and distinguished appearance.

Julian is an unashamed sensualist who, together with his wife, Celeste, has hatched an intriguing challenge for their new employee. As well as cataloguing their collection of erotica, Rosie is expected to educate Celeste's young and beautiful cousin David in the arts of erotic love. Having led a sheltered life, the young man is simmering with youthful passion.

In luxurious surroundings Rosie finds herself drawn into increasingly decadent scenarios where experimental sex is on the menu and like-minded libertines read the rewards of unbridled desire.

HOTBED - out now in the US!

This was not what Natalie had expected. The angry thing she held in her hand didn't seem to belong to the mild, shy man she'd believed she was sitting next to. He felt powerful. Primal. Dominant in a way that bypassed all words. She wanted to get down on her knees and...

Bits and bats...

Well, it's the first of October and the fabulous Raven Halloween Hunt is on! I hope you'll click the graphic above and take part in this fun game of hide and seek... There are lots of authors taking part and offering many, many fabulous prizes, including books from little old moi!

On the subject of games of Hide and Seek the above anthology, edited by the fabulous Alison Tyler and Rachel Kramer Bussel has just been published, and it contains an offering from Portia Da Costa! GLINT is a naughty short about a frisky couple on holiday and their sexy high jinks on a beach. There are stories in the collection from lots of top authors, including my fabulous writing buddy, Saskia Walker.

It's available from both the Amazons now: Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

HOTBED is out too, in the UK, and imminently in the US... It says on the front it's 'an erotic romance', but to be honest, that's stretching a point. It's more like a woman's voyage of sexual discovery type story... and it's very, very rude! But... the heroine does get her man in the end, and something he says and does shows her that she's the one for him even if there's not a lot of hearts and flowers and stuff.

Check it out at the Amazons: Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk

covers.... some new ones... real ones...

Here's the new 'official' cover for the Lust Bites vampire paranormal erotic romance collection! Not bad, is it? I'm so pleased to see this cover because a previous mockup I'd seen of it was just utterly dreadful... really... it was gruesome, with the most hideous t**t of a constipated looking bloke on it, who appeared to have been drenched in chip oil...

Obviously the cover above isn't as divine as my beautifully mournful 'faux' cover for Buddies Don't Bite... but it'll certainly 'do' in the absence of actually getting the divine Vincenzo to pose for my covers.

The second new cover is a new one for a reprinted novel of mine, Hotbed, which is due out in October, I think...

Again, I'm very pleased with this, both in terms of image and colour combos, and feel it's an improvement over the original cover... although that was rather nice, actually, too...

There's only one slight thing that bothers me a bit about this beautiful new cover. You might not be able to see it, but at the bottom it says 'an erotic romance'... and oh dear, oh dear... this book isn't an erotic romance! It's a work of erotic fiction for women, written several years ago, when romance wasn't really such a strong feature of Black Lace novels... I've mostly written romance toned erotica, and there is a central relationship in Hotbed, and the implication of a rather off beat HEA at the end, but it's not a romance per se.

But, if you like erotic romance... please do give it a try, just for the sex!

another reprint in the works... hopefully...

I've just been exchanging a few emails with my editor about another reprint of one of my books that's in the works. This time it's my 2000 title HOTBED... He needs a refresh about some details about the characters' appearance in order to come up with a suitable cover image, so I was flicking back through the manuscript, looking for clues. To my dismay, I'd forgotten a lot of what happens in this book, and the fine detail of most of the characters in it, but one thing jumps out at me in that it's yet another book of mine with a cross dressing character in it!

I really must have a think for blokes in frocks... but I really don't understand what the psychology of this fascination is... It's happened a number of times though in my books. Each time though the cross dressing lad is also *very* masculine and alpha... They all love women, and they're all devastatingly attractive in their normal male clothing... and out of it. I seem to like to create this certain breed of very bold and experimental men who don't feel constrained by the usual gender 'rules' when it comes to expressing themselves. A sort of 'Sod it, why *can't* I have fun with gorgeous clothes and makeup?' attitude....

The best real world example of this is the fabulous comedian and actor Eddie Izzard.

I'm afraid I don't know andything about Eddie's private life, so I don't know what his sexual orientation is, but he doesn't come across as effeminate to me. He seems very much like a supremely intelligent and imaginative man who enjoys experimenting with beautiful clothing and makeup and making himself look great, regardless of gender. At least that's how I perceive him.

What do you think?
