An awfully big adventure...

Those who visit this blog often enough will have gathered that I don't go anywhere very much. I'm a homebody, and I go to the supermarket, the fish and chip restaurant or the Toby Inn, and the pub. I sometimes walk up into little town to the shops, and if I'm feeling really ambitious or brave, I go to big town to meet my lovely writing buddy Saskia, or to Manchester to meet my other lovely writing buddy Madelynne and sometimes other writing friends too.

What I do not usually do is leave the country or get on aeroplanes...

But that's all going to change. Come the end of July, I'll be boarding a jet to San Francisco to attend the 2008 Romance Writers of America Conference! To say this is a big step for me is a massive understatement... the last time I flew, I swear the pilots were named Orville and Wilbur!

Luckily for me though, I'll be in the company of Saskia, who lives not too far from me, so we can travel together. And hopefully, if all goes well, Madelynne will be with us too! How cool is that? A mini posse of crazy British erotic romance authors... I can't say yet whether we'll take the conference by storm, but at least we'll be there, causing a little stir of some sort. Even if it's just all my American chums giggling at my broad Yorkshire accent!

Hooray! That is VERY cool, San Fran is wonderful...you'll love shopping in Chinatown. I'm still in a debate about going or not. Have you heard any word on what our RWA Passionate Ink chapter has in store for the Conference?

I hope you can make it to the conference, Anais. I would love to meet you.

I believe Passionate Ink is planning either a special luncheon or a cocktail party. Either way, it should be a wonderful event!

I want to say that Passionate Ink did a luncheon last year - but dang if I can remember now.

And yeah! Portia is going to be in San Francisco! I'm about 95% positive I'll be there too - and no boarding a plane. I'll be able to drive it.

I'm sure I remember the Inkers talking about a luncheon last year. :)

Wow, looking forward to meeting you, Wendy...

Two Wendys, one Superlibrarian and one ex Superlibrarian currently writing a WIP about superlibrarian! Should be a blast! LOL

That's wonderful Wendy! I'd love to go, but I can't afford it right now. Maybe next year.

I'm really looking forward to it. Just wish I could get this early planning stage over with so I could feel a bit more relaxed.

Wish I lived closer, sounds like fun. Do they let fans attend or would I have to lurk outside to get a glimpse?

The Divas will welcome you and love you to bits. They will cry all over you and hopefully, you may think twice about going home because you have made such wonderful friends who will miss you terribly. But you will only pause for a moment because you will realize that you can see them again Next Year!

So sorry to miss you this year.

Yeah, Saskia and Madelynne, me old mates... we're going to have a high old time in San Francisco... it's gonna be brill!

Maybe next year then, Ava?

Mary, on the first evening there is a charity book signing that members of the public are welcome to attend. Think it's on the Wednesday evening. Hope to be there... but will have to practice my signature first! Being unused to signing Portia Da Costa, it often comes out wiggly.

Eva, I'm sorry I won't meet you next year, but I know I'll have a wonderful time meeting the Divas and many other friends who'll be there. I hope that I'll be attending another year when you and I can meet.
