Is it wrong....

to count the words of the notes I've been making this morning towards my daily Sweat70 total?

After convincing myself last night that what I've written so far on In Too Deep is a pile of camel dung of the highest pong, and that the idea itself is ludicrous, I'm feeling better disposed towards it at the moment. Thanks in part to more of my bathroom brainstorming. Had a few not too pathetic and insane ideas about it whilst hovering before the sink, starkers and soapy, and when I was all clean and dry and dressed, I rushed to the laptop to get them down in my notes file. [above piccie is supposed to represent the foam of ideas welling up... or summink like that] I think I'm starting to get a sense of the book, sort of. I've plumped for first person for the time being, but will give myself permission to change that if it doesn't work out. There's also a bit of an additional hero first person POV in the form of some notes and letters and emails, which I'm hoping will work and not seem too hokey. The story takes place in the Stoneworld universe, but I'm not sure if it'll seem contrived to try and get some of the other characters into it. Maybe they'll just be 'seen' rather than have speaking parts.

Anyway, I did a solid 1K of words yesterday on this opus, so In Too Deep is officially under way now. And that's good because it means I've overcome my fear of 'starting'... which is a pretty big hurdle for me. :)

What's with bathrooms that makes them good places for the Muses to inspire us? *lol*

I dunno, Tempest... it's weird. I often manage to think up plot bits when I'm washing or bathing. Maybe it's that I somehow 'refresh' my mind as I refresh my body? :)

I think it's that its the only place in the house where the hubby and the kids actually leave me alone. Not only can I hear myself think, I can hear the muse whispering in my ear, too.

Great start, Portia!

I have some of my best alone time in the bathroom ... something about that doesn't sound quite right. ;-)

Just popping in to say thanks for popping by my blog - it get sooo boring over there sometimes. Congrats on the great start!

Hi Tammy and Krista! Hope you're enjoying the challenge... I've managed to do my K for today. Still learning the ways of my characters, but at least I'm writing.

Tammy! ;) LOL!

Love the pic :)
And woo hoo on the 1k! you can do it!
I think notes should count. After all, they do end up in the story later.
*looks at her handwritten outline and debates counting the words >:)

Hi Michelle! Well, I just managed to haul myself over the 1K line with actual text, so I don't need to add in the notes to make my total!

Now I'm wondering whether to count in the 'fragments' I just wrote, or add them into tomorrow's count when they actually become part of the book! :)

Absolutely those words should count! They are words, aren't they?
I'm tempted to put my blog count towards it but I'm fighting the urge. It seems to be going okay for me. Like you, I always have a hard time getting started. I sat in front of the laptop for an hour yesterday just starng at the screen waiting for words to come.

Ava, if you should have trouble again, and find yourself staring at the screen for an hour... I recommend a short walk to the shops or a bath! Those seem to work for me! LOL

I dunno - I think that pic of foam looks like someone's buttocks. Good inspiration maybe? I'm plodding on with Sven too.

I always seem to get wonderful ideas when I'm the furthest from a pen and paper. Just the way of it for me. Whether I'm in shower, or cooking, or out for a walk, doesn't much matter.

Thanks for dropping in on my blog. I'm not quite hitting my daily 1000 but I'm putting words to paper and that's all that counts really.

I'm with Keziah on the "buttocks" front!!

Well done in getting off the starting blocks.
